We still did math once a day, but I let my oldest daughter do Biology 2-3 hours every day and she completed the whole course in 2 months. Then we moved on to her Language Arts Curriculum and did only that for a couple of months. It worked really well and she was actually later able to completely skip her Sophomore year in high school when we decided to enroll her in private school. They really liked doing this instead of 4 or 5 different subjects per day.

I don’t know of any kids who’ve had problems due to having alternate sleep schedules as teens. That doesn’t mean they’re not out there, but I don’t know of anyone.

My son also seems to be wired that way; he has a really difficult time getting to sleep at night and at 14, he’s not so keen on going to bed at 8:00 to get the sleep he needs. I’ve wondered if I should be letting him sleep later in the mornings (he gets up at 7:30) but I am wondering what that would do to his self-discipline. I know you’ve said it hasn’t been a problem for Brianna, but have you ever heard of a homeschooler who was allowed to sleep late who later had a problem because of it?

As a morning person, I know I have a bias towards getting up early, but so does the rest of society, it seems. And I wonder what part Lamentations 3:27 (It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.) plays in this. (I know my 14 year old is not a man, but he certainly thinks he is.) 🙂
